Liverpool vs. Shrewsbury Shows A Team Is Only As Great As Its People.

Liverpool’s performance against Shrewsbury shows that a team — like a nation — is only as good as its people.

At the start of the game, Liverpool was the best team in the league — arguably the best team in the world! They lead the Premier League (a league made up of world-class teams)by an incredible margin and have gone unbeaten for over a year.
Today, however, the masters of the premier league — of European football — were shown up by a young third-tier football club.

Anyone watching tonight’s game could see the differences between the youngsters Klopp fielded and the usual team. The defense was soft and often caught off guard, and forward play was far less clinical than Liverpool fans are used to seeing from the first team. This, of course, is understandable, considering most of tonight’s squad were not regular first-team players. However, as the game progressed, one could quickly tell that if this group of youngsters was the first team, Liverpool would be nowhere near where they are now in the standings.

As I watched, a thought came to mind. No team, no matter how great they are, is ever better than the individuals they are built upon.
